Creating a Book Template in Adobe Photoshop
https://printninja.com/adobe-photoshop-book-template/
Now that I have most of all of the content for my book, I am beginning to do research on how to properly design a book with the intention to print. I have started the process of designing my book in Adobe Photoshop by creating multiple art boards and doing a rough layout of the pages. The video was really helpful in showing me how to insert margins, as Photoshop doesn't have any built in features where you can add in a gutter or margins unless doing it manually. This helps me to visualize where to keep text and art away from so it doesn't get cut off when printed.
The image above is a sample of how my book pages will look like. I have already created multiple pages, so it is important for me to go back into Photoshop and adjust the margins so I don't run into any issues once I print. The video helped me to think about how to space out my content for the future pages I'll be making. The article did suggest implementing a margin of 0.125 for a hard cover book, but upon further research that would be too narrow. Instead, I am going to put in a margin of 0.75 or 1 inch.
Exploring Printing Options:
I've additionally been doing some research on where I can print my book. Here are some sources I found:
- https://www.pip.com/louisvilleky827/request-a-quote
- Shutterfly
I decided to use Shutterfly to print out my book because it was not too expensive, and it offered a great visual option when laying out the pages.
